Intestinal cleansing

The gut is our central digestive and immune organ. The integrity of the mucous membrane lining the gut and the presence of the bacteria responsible for maintaining specific metabolic and repair processes are fundamental factors in the production of countless immune substances in the lymph nodes located in the deeper layers of the gut mucosa. If the gut mucosa is disrupted (by a poor diet, allergens in food, environmental factors), or the bacteria that normally live in the gut are destroyed (by antibiotics or immunosuppressive agents such as cortisone, for example), this results in lasting impairment of the human immune system. The poor diet commonly eaten in modern society allows disease-causing gut bacteria to populate the gut, and these can contribute to the formation of alcohols which, in turn, cause disease and overload the liver. They also produce sulphurous acids which promote the development of arthritis. Some of these bacteria can even produce hormone-like substances which may be implicated in the development of cancer.

Gentle intestinal cleansing (colon hydrotherapy) is thus a vitally important treatment. It removes the burden on the immune system, lowers the "stress level" in the body by regulating the autonomic nervous system, and restores normal gut motility in patients with severe constipation. In fact, these problems are often a sign that the body is poisoning itself from within.

Colon hydrotherapy lasts about one hour. Pleasantly warm water is introduced into the colon and removed again using a hygienic, closed system. The elimination of waste from the gut wall is stimulated by gentle abdominal massage carried out by a trained therapist.
